Meta Glasses Drop to $249 and Add Two Shapes, and Meta's Own Pages Disagree on One Market

Two new frame shapes, a new entry price, two celebrity collections and a personalization program. Also a prescription limit Meta does not mention and a country listed as both live and coming soon.

Meta added five ways to buy its house-brand glasses on September 23, 2026: two new frame shapes, a $249 entry price, a limited edition sold only in its own stores, a second celebrity collection and a program that lets a buyer pick frame, lens and case separately. Meta also published two different answers to the question of where they are sold.

In short:

  • New shapes: Meta Capri and Meta Nova, both $299 on meta.com, joining Adventurer, Starfire and Fury.
  • New floor: a Meta Adventurer with a plug-in case from $249, pre-order now, on sale October 23. Meta calls it "our most accessible price yet."
  • New collections: a Meta Glasses collection with LISA in two styles at $399, and an Ivory colorway of the Kylie Jenner Starfire at $399.
  • New program: Mix and Match, a US personalization option letting a buyer choose frame, lens and case color separately.
  • Two answers on markets: Meta's newsroom says the United Arab Emirates is live today. Meta's own blog says it is coming soon. Both were published on September 23.

The lineup after Connect

Meta Glasses is the house brand Meta launched with EssilorLuxottica in June 2026, distinct from Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta. It went into Connect with three styles and came out with five plus two collaborations. Read from Meta's own store on September 24, 2026:

The $249 Adventurer is the number that matters. It is the lowest price Meta has published for a camera-equipped pair, and it lands $100 below the new Ray-Ban Meta Audio, which has no camera, and $200 below Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3). Meta reaches it by changing the case: the announcement specifies a plug-in case rather than the charging case that comes with the other models.

Meta's two documents disagree about the United Arab Emirates

Both statements were published by Meta on September 23, 2026, about the same set of countries.

Meta's newsroom post says the glasses are arriving "starting today in Singapore, South Korea, and Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates, and coming soon to Brazil."

Meta's own blog post says they are arriving "starting today in Singapore, South Korea, and Mexico, and coming soon to Brazil and the United Arab Emirates."

Three countries are live in both readings. The fourth is either on sale now or not yet, depending on which Meta page a reader lands on. This is not a distinction that resolves by looking harder at the sentences, and BestInXR has not confirmed which is correct on the ground. It is recorded here because a buyer in Dubai reading one page would be told something the other page contradicts.

A separate footnote on the newsroom post names eleven more markets for Oakley Meta, Ray-Ban Meta and Ray-Ban Meta Optics "later this year": Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia and the Philippines. No date is given for any of them, and that list is for the Ray-Ban and Oakley lines rather than for Meta Glasses.

The prescription range is narrower than Ray-Ban Meta

One practical difference does not appear in any announcement and does appear in Meta's own comparison table. Meta Glasses take prescriptions from -12.00 to +2.25. Ray-Ban Meta, including the new Audio models, goes from -12.00 to +6.00.

For a near-sighted buyer the two are identical. For a far-sighted one the Meta Glasses line stops well short, and a wearer above +2.25 has to move to a Ray-Ban frame and a higher price. Meta does not raise this anywhere in its announcements, and it is the sort of thing that decides a purchase.

The same table gives the Meta Adventurer LISA Edition as over 8 hours of battery with 40 more from the case, a wide-angle 12 MP camera at a 100 degree field of view, three-way adjustable nose pads, a two-way touchpad, a capture button and a customizable action button.

Personalization is the strategy

Mix and Match, the US program letting a buyer choose frame, lens and case color at a Meta Lab store or online, is the part of this announcement that is not a product. Together with two celebrity collections, a store-exclusive limited edition and a stated target of "more than 100 different glasses options" across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses by the end of the year, it describes a company treating eyewear as eyewear rather than as an accessory category.

That framing is EssilorLuxottica's rather than Meta's, and it is visible in who makes what. EssilorLuxottica's own smart eyewear page states that Ray-Ban Meta is "Developed in partnership with Meta" and lists Ray-Ban and Oakley in its own brands portfolio. Neither company owns the other, which our XR ownership map records because it is the row most often stated wrongly.

What none of this changes is the hardware. Meta publishes no processor, no memory, no storage and no weight for any Meta Glasses style, and the styles differ in shape, color, battery and nose pads rather than in what the electronics do.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What are the cheapest Meta Glasses?

Meta Adventurer, from $249, announced on September 23, 2026 with a plug-in case rather than a charging case. Pre-orders opened that day and Meta gives October 23 as the on-sale date.

2. What new Meta Glasses styles were announced?

Two new frame shapes, Meta Capri and Meta Nova, both from $299, plus a limited-edition Meta Fury sold only at Connect and in Meta Lab stores, an Ivory colorway of the Kylie Jenner Starfire and a two-style collection with LISA.

3. Where are Meta Glasses sold now?

Meta names Singapore, South Korea and Mexico as live from September 23, 2026, with Brazil coming soon. Meta's newsroom lists the United Arab Emirates as live and its own blog lists it as coming soon, so that one market is stated two ways.

4. Do Meta Glasses take prescription lenses?

Yes, from -12.00 to +2.25 by Meta's own comparison table. That is narrower at the far-sighted end than Ray-Ban Meta, which Meta gives as -12.00 to +6.00.

5. What is Mix and Match?

A US personalization program that lets a buyer choose the frame, the lenses and the case color separately, either online or at a Meta Lab store. Meta has not published pricing for the combinations.
