How BestInXR evaluates everything it publishes.
This page explains how listings are selected and what we will not do.
Documenting every category of the XR industry
Free and independent.
BestInXR is free to use. Every category is browsable as a directory, so you can check the full field rather than trusting a ranked subset. Where we lack data, we say so rather than estimating.
What gets listed, and why.
BestInXR aims to document the full field in each category rather than a curated shortlist. A company or product is eligible for inclusion when it meets the category’s definition and is commercially available to business buyers.
Listings come from three routes:
All three routes are evaluated the same way.
The principle: use case over absolutes.
Rankings are specific to a use case, not absolute. A headset that ranks first for classroom deployment may rank differently for field service, because the criteria differ.
Why we publish no universal ranking:
There is no honest answer to best developer, best headset, best manufacturer, without context. Context is categorized with use cases, as they are the optimal segmentation for businesses.
Where judgment enters:
Where a ranking depends on a judgment call rather than a measurable specification, we say which, and explain the reasoning. Nothing is ordered by unstated preference.
What this means in practice:
You can check our work. Every category is browsable as a full directory, so you can evaluate the whole field rather than trusting the order we published.
