What Apple has published
Apple's visionOS 27 page gives the release as "available starting 9.14" and leads on Siri. The page describes a more capable assistant powered by Apple Intelligence, an all-new Siri app that collects conversations in one place, and Visual Intelligence, which Apple says lets a wearer "ask Siri about almost anything just by looking at it".
Two additions are specific to the headset rather than carried over from Apple's other platforms. Spatial Mac previewing brings 3D models from a Mac into the wearer's space to preview and edit, which is a workflow feature aimed at people who build 3D content. Spatial scenes turn a panorama into a scene that can be set as a personal Environment, which extends a feature Vision Pro owners already use to replace their surroundings.
The caveat is Apple's own. The page states that Siri AI is rolling out in English, so the headline feature of this release is not available in every language on day one.
Why the date is the story
Software release dates are among the few things Apple commits to in public before shipping, and they anchor everything else. Apple Vision Pro is the only device visionOS runs on, so a dated visionOS release is the clearest published signal of what the platform is doing in a given year.
